Welcome to Red Queen

Hello! My name is Jabale Rahmat. I am a PhD student at the University of Rochester. My research interests lie within the complex regions of our genomes, which are repetitive enough to be difficult to decipher, yet revealing enough to acknowledge their importance.

Why "Red Queen"

The name Red Queen draws from the Red Queen Hypothesis, which describes how how host-parasite interactions drive an incessant evolutionary arms race. Just as the Red Queen in Through the Looking-Glass says, “It takes all the running you can do to stay in the same place,” organisms and their genomes evolve continually just to survive.
